Spread the love

Ingredients for 3 servings:

  • 1 head of sugarloaf lettuce
  • 2 onions
  • 3 tbsp sesame oil
  • 4 tbsp teriyaki sauce
  • 4 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 200 ml water
  • 1 tsp lemon zest, finely grated
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Finely dice the onions and sauté in a pan with sesame oil. Meanwhile, cut the sugarloaf lettuce into eighths, leaving the stems intact. Add to the onions and fry briefly. Deglaze the vegetables with soy and teriyaki sauce, drizzle with honey, and add water. Let it simmer for about 5-7 minutes. Then add the lemon zest and season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve with rice or noodles. If you don’t like the slightly bitter taste of the sugarloaf lettuce, debitter the lettuce by soaking it in hot water for about 5-10 minutes before frying.
