breaded asparagus, juicy, crispy and delicious

Peel the fresh asparagus. Cook in salted water with a small knob of butter and a little sugar until tender – it should still have some bite. Wrap 2-3 asparagus spears, depending on their thickness, in a slice of Gouda or Edam cheese, then wrap a slice of ham around them and secure the package with toothpicks. Coat the asparagus, cheese, and ham pieces in flour and then lightly dust them. Dip them in the beaten egg and finally coat them in the breadcrumbs. Fry in a frying pan with heated oil until golden brown and crispy. You can eat this breaded asparagus hot or cold – it’s both delicious and very filling, you don’t need any side dishes, and the asparagus tastes completely different.
