Aspartame And Glutamate – Be Careful!

The sweetener aspartame and the flavor enhancer monosodium glutamate (MSG) are the most commonly used additives in food, even though they are extremely dangerous for health – especially that of the nervous system.

Hidden Dangers in Food

Many people, therefore, take them for granted – or not at all. It is clear that diet drinks and foods contain “something else” instead of sugar. It is hardly noticed that even middle-class dishes contain something additional, because flavor enhancers are declared under various names, such as “E621” “sodium glutamate” “yeast extract” or “seasoning”.

If you eat in a restaurant, you often have to expect that you will also eat MSG flavor enhancers there without it being on the menu. This also applies if the kitchen there does not add MSG to the food itself, because it is already in the finished products used, such as soups, gravy, salad dressings, and many other products stored in restaurant kitchens.

So everything is harmless? No, on the contrary!

Aspartame or MSG leads to excitotoxin overload faster than other additives. These are amino acids that also act as neurotransmitters in the brain. The nervous system needs these neurotransmitters to function properly. However, if too much of it gets into the blood, these amino acids cross the blood-brain barrier and excite the nerve cells of the brain to the point of absolute exhaustion. Eventually, these nerve cells die.

Such reactions are not only found in the brain. There are glutamate receptors throughout the nervous system, including the heart and digestive tract. Be careful with aspartame and glutamate! But there are antidotes.

Natural protection through natural substances

It was found that magnesium can prevent the overloading of the receptors with glutamate. People with low magnesium levels are most susceptible to acute excitotoxicity, which can lead to serious indigestion, headaches, or even heart attacks. Magnesium is particularly found in green leafy vegetables, whole grains, beans, and nuts.

From further research and experience, it is known that there are a number of natural remedies that you can use to protect yourself from excitotoxicity. These include ginkgo Biloba, selenium, zinc, and red clover as a liquid extract, tea, or in capsules. Omega-3 fatty acids also protect against excitotoxins by repairing cell damage. A vegetable source with a particularly large amount of omega-3 is linseed oil.

Detoxification through avoidance

The first step in detoxification is to avoid aspartame and glutamate toxins altogether. Aspartame, it’s pretty easy because it’s found in many diet drinks, sugar-free sports drinks, and sugar-free processed foods. With MSG, it’s not that simple because it’s used under a variety of names.

But the effort of consistent abstinence is worth it because the body then actively plays along: As soon as it gets nutrition without aspartame sweetener and without MSG flavor enhancer, it begins to rid itself of the excitotoxins that have already been imported.
