Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 2 cans condensed milk, sweetened
  • 10 eggs
  • Almond(s), (slivers)

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Rest time approx. 5 hours; Total time approx. 5 hours 15 minutes

Portuguese egg custard

Cook the condensed milk in the can for 45 minutes in a pressure cooker or for 2 hours in a regular saucepan. Let it cool for at least 5 hours before opening the cans. Stir the milk well with a wooden spoon. Gradually add the egg yolks, whisking continuously. Whisk the egg whites until stiff peaks form and gently fold in. Serve the custard sprinkled with almond flakes.
