Bacon and onion rings

Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 2 large onions
  • 300g bacon
  • 1 bottle of barbecue sauce
  • 4 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 dashes lemon juice

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 50 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 10 minutes

Onion rings with a twist. These ingredients are enough for about 15 rings.

Carefully peel the onions, leaving as little of the outer layers as possible intact. Trim off the ends generously and cut the onion into approximately 1 cm thick slices. Squeeze two rings out of each slice to ensure they are sturdy enough. Brush each of the two-layered rings with BBQ sauce and wrap tightly with 2-3 slices of bacon. Secure with toothpicks if necessary. Then, grill the rings or bake them in the oven at 150°C (top/bottom heat) for 50 minutes until crispy. Meanwhile, mix the smoked mayonnaise. Mix BBQ sauce and mayonnaise in a ratio of approximately 1:4 and season with a squeeze of lemon juice. Homemade mayonnaise is even better, of course. For the BBQ sauce, I recommend Bulls-Eye’s Original BBQ Sauce. The sauce also works well as a burger dressing. And the bacon onion rings can also find a place on a special burger.
