Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 liter kidney beans, from the can
  • 3 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 onion(s), roughly diced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp black pepper, coarsely ground
  • 1 chili pepper(s), finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 10 minutes

Baked beans were a favorite dish of Louis Armstrong, the famous jazz trumpeter from New Orleans. Since the beans are canned, the dish is fairly easy to prepare. Pour the oil into a hot pot and sauté the onions. When the onions are light brown, add the garlic and sauté until well browned. Then add the tomato paste, followed immediately by the beans and the remaining ingredients. Cook briefly but thoroughly, then season to taste.
