Baked chili slices

Ingredients for 8 servings:

  • 1 pack of Knorr Naturally Delicious Chili con Carne (seasoning base)
  • n. B. Cheese (Jarlsberg Cheese)
  • 250 g minced meat, mixed
  • ½ can kidney beans
  • ½ can chili beans
  • 3 tbsp, heaped corn from the can
  • 8 slice(s) bread(s) as desired
  • n. B. Salt
  • n. B. Pfeffer
  • n. B. Paprika powder, sweet
  • e.g. Paprika powder, hot
  • e.g. cayenne pepper
  • Butter or oil for frying

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour

Preheat oven to 250 degrees Celsius (convection oven). Fry the bread slices in a little butter or oil on both sides. Don’t use too much fat; the slices should not be dripping. Place the slices on a baking sheet lined with baking paper. Season the minced meat to taste, knead it, add it to the hot pan, break it up with a spatula, and fry briefly until nothing is pink. Remove the pan from the heat. Pour 300 ml of cold water into a saucepan, stir in the seasoning base, add the minced meat, beans, and corn. Bring to a boil while stirring, then simmer for about 5 minutes over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Important: it shouldn’t be too runny; if necessary, reduce it a little longer. Season to taste and add the cooked chili to taste. Spread the chili on the slices. Coarsely grate or slice the Jarlsberg cheese and sprinkle it on top. Place the bread on a baking tray and bake in the middle rack for about 15 minutes at 250 degrees (fan oven).
