Ingredients for 4 servings:
- 4 turkey schnitzels or pork schnitzels
- 3 tbsp sour cream
- 2 large onions
- 200 g cheese (Emmental), grated
- salt and pepper
- some butter
Instructions
Working time approx. 25 minutes; Total time approx. 25 minutes
Rinse the schnitzels, pat them dry, and pound them lightly. Grease a baking dish with butter and place the schnitzels in it. Season with salt and pepper, then spread the sour cream evenly over the top and smooth it down. Peel the onions, slice them into thin rings, and add them to the dish as a third layer. Finally, sprinkle with Emmental cheese and cover the baking dish with aluminum foil. Then bake in a preheated oven (225°C) for about 40 minutes, covered. Be careful, as without foil it burns easily and dries out quickly. Then remove the foil and let it brown for 20 minutes. Serve with mashed potatoes, rice, or flatbread. Tip: If you like onions, go ahead and add plenty; the amount is a matter of taste.
