Baked tarte flambée bread

Ingredients for 3 servings:

  • 5 slices of bread (mixed bread)
  • 150 g Emmental cheese, grated
  • 1 cup of sour cream, approx. 150 – 200 g
  • 1 small onion(s) or spring onion
  • 75 g diced ham, finely chopped, not so fatty
  • some parsley or chives
  • some salt and pepper
  • some nutmeg

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 35 minutes

Preheat the oven to approximately 200°C (fan/convection oven). Finely dice the onion and/or thinly slice the spring onions. Place the sour cream in a medium-sized bowl, stir until smooth, and season with salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Now add the onion, herbs, diced ham, and about 2/3 of the grated Emmental cheese. Mix well. Give the mixture a final seasoning, adding more seasoning if necessary. Be careful with the salt; the diced ham is usually quite salty. Spread the mixture thickly on the bread slices and sprinkle the remaining Emmental cheese on top. Place the bread in the oven and bake for about 15-20 minutes, until the cheese is lightly browned. Serve with lamb’s lettuce.
