Baking Plum Cake – A Simple Recipe

You don’t need a lot of baking experience to bake a plum cake. With our simple recipe, you will definitely succeed in making the delicious cake.

Bake plum cake: recipe

You probably already have what you need for a plum cake at home. The quantities are sufficient for two round sheets. If one cake is enough for your afternoon coffee, halve the quantities:

  • 500 grams of flour,
  • 250 ml milk,
  • 80 grams of butter,
  • 120 grams of sugar,
  • an egg,
  • a cube of yeast.
  • a kilogram of plums,
  • optional cinnamon and sugar for sprinkling,

Bake plum cake: instructions

  1. First, heat the milk, but don’t let it boil.
  2. Melt the butter in the warm milk and dissolve the sugar in it.
  3. Now add the egg and mix everything until fluffy.
  4. Now comes the yeast: crumble the cube and let it melt completely in the still warm liquid. Keep stirring.
  5. Once the yeast has dissolved, slowly add the flour, stirring constantly.
  6. Once the dough is nice and smooth, cover the bowl with a clean kitchen towel and let the dough rise in a warm, draft-free place for 20 to 30 minutes.
  7. During this time, wash the plums thoroughly, cut them in half, and remove the stone.
  8. When the dough has risen nicely, divide it and line the baking trays with it. Tip: pull the edge up a little and press it down a little. Plums are often quite juicy and the juice would otherwise run under the ground.
  9. Now distribute the halved fruit evenly on the tray. The plums should be laid densely, they can overlap a little.
  10. The plum cake can now bake in the preheated oven at 200 degrees for about 20 minutes.
  11. When the cake has cooled, you can sprinkle some cinnamon-sugar mixture over it. This gives a particularly fine taste. Enjoy your meal!
