Barley Water

Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 2 liters of water
  • 100 g barley, organic

Instructions

Working time approx. 5 minutes; Rest time approx. 4 hours; Cooking/baking time approx. 2 hours; Total time approx. 6 hours 5 minutes

Soak the barley for about 4 hours. Then bring the mixture to a boil and simmer at low heat for about 2 hours, until the liquid has reduced to about 1 liter. Then strain the barley water through a sieve and separate it from the barley grains. The barley grains can be added to salads or muesli, for example. The water can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and enjoyed hot or cold. Note: There are many other possible variations. You can mix it with orange juice or add a little ginger or cloves. The sky’s the limit. The drink tastes particularly delicious when served chilled in summer.
