Bavarian apple and cream strudel

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 6 tbsp sultanas
  • rum
  • 1 package of strudel sheets
  • 1 kg apple (e.g. Boskoop)
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 80 g sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • Almonds, chopped
  • butter
  • 1 cup of cream
  • powdered sugar

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 40 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour

Soak the sultanas in rum. Peel, quarter, core, and slice the apples. Double up each sheet of strudel dough and place each of these two sheets on a tea towel. Spread the sheets with sour cream and arrange the apples, sultanas, cinnamon, and almonds on top. Using the tea towel, roll up the strudel. Butter a baking dish. Place the strudel in the dish and bake at 200°C for 20 minutes, then pour on the cream. Bake for another 20 minutes and sprinkle with powdered sugar. Serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
