Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 kg white cabbage
  • 40 g fat
  • 1 onion(s)
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • Caraway seeds
  • 375 ml broth
  • Salt
  • 2 tbsp vinegar
  • 1 tbsp flour
  • n. B. bacon, streaky

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

Trim, wash, quarter, and stalk the white cabbage. Shred or finely chop the cabbage. Heat the fat and fry the chopped onion with sugar and caraway seeds. Add the chopped cabbage and fry for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Pour in a little broth and season with salt. Cover and simmer for 30-45 minutes until tender. Season with vinegar, salt, and sugar, and thicken with flour. You can fry lean, diced smoked bacon and mix it with the cabbage. Serve as a side dish with finger noodles, meatballs, bratwurst, or pot roast.
