Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 500 g beans, white, drained
  • 2 onions, quartered
  • 2 garlic cloves, diced
  • 50 g bacon, streaky, diced
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 50 g butter
  • 50 g ham, diced
  • 500 ml water
  • salt and pepper
  • marjoram
  • savory
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp flour

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 25 minutes; Total time approx. 35 minutes

Sauté the streaky bacon, diced onion, and garlic in hot oil in a large pan until translucent. Then add the beans and half of the water (250 ml). Season, cover, and simmer for about 10 minutes. Then stir in the butter, diced ham, and the remaining water. Make a roux with 1 tablespoon each of butter and flour, stir in, and simmer covered for another 10 minutes. When the beans and onions are soft enough, remove the pan from the heat and serve.
