Beef fillet with cinnamon and red wine sauce

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 250 g beef fillet(s)
  • Butter for frying
  • ½ tbsp sugar
  • 2 onions, diced
  • 1 shallot(s), diced
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 250 ml beef broth
  • 100 ml red wine, dry, e.g. Merlot
  • e.g. salt and pepper
  • e.g. rosemary
  • n. B. Thyme
  • e.g. cinnamon

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 25 minutes; Total time approx. 35 minutes

For this recipe I was inspired by a dish from a Greek restaurant.

Brown the meat in a pan in butter. Then remove and cut into large pieces. Add the sugar to the pan and let it caramelize slightly. Add the onions and shallots and sauté. Add the tomato paste and stir. Deglaze with beef stock and red wine. Add the meat back in. Season with salt, pepper, rosemary, thyme, and cinnamon, and season to taste. Simmer slightly and then season again to taste. Serve with kritharaki pasta (Greek rice noodles) and a green salad, for example.
