Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 300 g beef tartare, freshly chopped, fillet or rump
  • 1 medium egg yolk, fresh
  • 1 medium-sized onion(s), finely diced
  • n. B. Salt
  • n. B. Pfeffer
  • e.g. paprika powder
  • e.g. nutmeg, grated

Beefsteak tartare, tartare de boeuf, filet américain, cockroach

The freshly minced beef tartare is thoroughly mixed with finely diced onion, salt, pepper, paprika (spicy or sweet, if desired), nutmeg, and a fresh egg yolk. Serve immediately with bread or rolls. Tip: A little softened butter can be stirred in if the mixture is still too dry. This dish requires very fresh, high-quality ingredients. Worcestershire sauce, mustard, and a dollop of anchovy paste round out the flavor. Garnish with parsley.
