Christmas cookies with a light gingerbread aroma

Heat the beet syrup, butter, and sugar in a saucepan until the sugar dissolves. Then add the gingerbread spice. Mix the flour and baking powder together in a bowl with the cooled syrup and egg to form a dough. Chill slightly if desired—but it’s fine as is. Roll out the dough and cut out shapes. Bake in a preheated oven (160°C fan oven) for about 10 minutes. Let cool, then decorate with icing (for example, frosting the edges). Yields about 80 cookies.
