Ingredients for 4 servings:
- 1 handful of raisins
- some rum
- 8 egg whites
- 8 egg yolks
- 100 g butter
- 6 tbsp flour
- 6 tbsp sugar
- 1 bag of vanilla sugar
- 1 handful of almonds
- powdered sugar
Instructions
Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes
No milk. Easy to prepare.
Let the raisins soak in a little rum. Beat the egg whites until stiff. Beat the egg yolks with the butter, sugar, flour, and vanilla sugar until frothy. Add the rum-infused raisins and almonds. Carefully fold in the egg whites with a spoon. Spread the batter thinly onto a high, greased baking sheet. The batter should be no more than 1-1.5 cm thick. It will continue to rise during baking. Place the baking sheet in the lower third of the oven at 180 degrees Celsius (top and bottom heat) for about 20-25 minutes. When the batter has risen and is nicely browned on top, the Kaiserschmarren is ready. Now cut or tear into pieces, sprinkle with powdered sugar, and serve with applesauce in winter or vanilla ice cream in summer. The Kaiserschmarren will be light and fluffy. Because it is prepared in the oven, this Kaiserschmarren is particularly suitable for larger groups. The almonds can also be omitted.
