Best and easiest garlic sauce

Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 3 cups sour cream
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • salt and pepper
  • 2 tbsp herbs, 8-herb mixture, frozen or whatever the herb garden has to offer

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 10 minutes

excellent with grilled food, fondue or for dipping

Peel the garlic cloves, halve lengthwise (remove any remaining stems), and chop finely. Sprinkle salt over them and crush and mince with the flat side of a knife. Put the sour cream, garlic, and herbs (finely chopped if fresh) in a bowl and mix. Season with salt and pepper. The whole thing should ideally sit for a few hours. The longer the sauce stands, the stronger the garlic flavor will be. Use salt sparingly; if possible, add a little more seasoning. I always add just enough salt to the garlic so that it can be easily crushed. The amount of garlic and herbs is, of course, a matter of taste. However, experience has shown that one garlic clove per cup is a ratio that satisfies everyone. Tastes great with grilled meat, vegetables, bread, and fondue. For dipping with raw vegetables or pretzels (e.g. at parties), a firmer consistency is recommended. This can be achieved by adding cream cheese. I replace 1-2 cups of sour cream with cream cheese, depending on how thick I want the sauce to be.
