Instructions
Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 35 minutes; Total time approx. 55 minutes
without rest time!
For the dough, put all ingredients except the apples in a bowl and knead well. Don’t be surprised if the dough is crumbly at first. Keep kneading until the dough has a uniform consistency, like playdough. Place the dough on a greased baking sheet and roll it out. Preheat the oven to medium heat (approx. 175°C, top/bottom heat). Slice the apples and arrange them in rows on the dough. Now knead all the ingredients for the crumble in a bowl until everything is well blended and the dough crumbles. Crumble the mixture over the apples and bake the cake for 30-40 minutes until golden brown. The cake tastes best lukewarm. If you like, you can refine the crumble by adding 1 packet of vanilla sugar, some poppy seeds, or (especially at Christmas) a pinch of cinnamon to the crumble dough.
