Ingredients for 4 servings:
- 4 large burger buns
- 800 g minced beef
- 2 large tomatoes
- 1 small iceberg lettuce
- 8 slices of bacon
- some salt and pepper
- 3 onions, red
- 1 shot of balsamic vinegar
- some salt and pepper
- 1 tbsp sugar or honey
- 5 tbsp, heaped tomato ketchup
- 3 tbsp, heaped mayonnaise
- 1 tbsp, heaped sour cream
- ½ tsp mustard, medium hot
- 1 tsp balsamic vinegar, dark
- ½ tsp salt
- some pepper
- 3 drops Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp sugar
Instructions
Working time approx. 40 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 50 minutes
Cut the iceberg lettuce into small strips, wash, and set aside. Slice the tomatoes and set aside. Finely slice or grate the red onions and fry them slowly in a pan with a little oil over medium heat. Before they brown, coat them with sugar or honey and let them caramelize slightly. Then deglaze with a little balsamic vinegar. Season with salt and pepper. Simmer gently for a short time until a nice consistency is reached. For the burger sauce, mix the ketchup, sour cream, mustard, balsamic vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and sugar until you get a smooth sauce. Slowly fry the bacon in a pan over medium heat until the desired degree of browning is achieved. Form 4 patties from the ground beef. This works best with a press. Cut the burger buns in half and lightly toast them in a pan. Fry the ground beef patties thoroughly until the desired degree of browning is achieved. (If the patties are about 3 cm thick, cook for about 4-5 minutes per side.) I recommend medium! If you like them well done, cook until the juices stop running when you gently press on the patty. Season with salt and pepper, preferably freshly ground. Now spread the sauce on the burger buns, top with lettuce, and layer with all the remaining ingredients. French fries go best with this.
