Ingredients for 8 servings:

  • 400 g pumpernickel or wholemeal bread, grated
  • 10 tbsp sugar
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 400 g sour cherries from the jar
  • 300 g quark
  • 350 g cream
  • 4 cl cherry brandy

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

Delicious quark dessert with cherries and crispy breadcrumbs

Mix the breadcrumbs with 6 tablespoons of sugar. Heat the butter in a pan and fry the bread and sugar mixture until crispy, stirring continuously. Let cool spread out. Strain the sour cherries. Cream the quark with the remaining sugar until creamy. Whip the cream until stiff and carefully fold into the quark. Marinate the drained sour cherries with the kirsch. Place 2 tablespoons of cherries (with liquid) into each of 8 tall goblets, then layer a layer of breadcrumbs, a layer of quark, cherries, breadcrumbs, and more quark. Sprinkle with the remaining breadcrumbs and serve chilled.
