Found in Any Housewife’s Cupboard: What to Do if You’re Out of Baking Paper

Many kinds of baking require parchment paper – covering a baking tray with parchment paper ensures that the dough does not stick to it. However, there are times when the necessary consumable is not available in the kitchen.

What can replace parchment paper for biscuits or other baking

Experienced hostesses say that there are several proven options with which to line a baking tray instead of parchment:

  • Stationery tracing paper;
  • ordinary office paper;
  • food parchment (supermarket baking bags are made from it);
  • a bag or sleeve for baking;
  • a flour bag.

If you don’t have any of the above at home, even this situation is not considered hopeless – the tray can be greased tightly and sprinkled with semolina or breadcrumbs.
