Usually, beets cook for a very long time – everyone who has ever made a vinaigrette knows this. However, there are several ways to boil it faster, for this you can use our recommendations.

Regardless of which method you choose, remember that beets should not be peeled before boiling. It is also better to choose vegetables of small size, with thin skin, without signs of rot and damage.

How much to cook beets in a pot on the stove

If you want to boil beets in a classic way, it will take you 2 hours. Take a pot, pour cold water into it, and put the vegetables. When the water comes to a boil, cover the pot with a lid, reduce the heat, and leave it for 2 hours. If you want the beets to retain their bright color, add 1¼ gallons of lemon juice to 1 gallon of water in the pot.

The second method is express cooking on the stove. If you cook this way, it will take about 40 minutes. In this case, you need to put the beets in the already boiling water, add vegetable oil, and not reduce the heat. After the beets have boiled for 30 minutes, you need to cool them sharply with cold water and hold them there for 10-15 minutes. The change in temperature will cool the vegetable and allow it to reach readiness.

How to cook beets in a multicooker

Depending on which multicooker you use, the cooking time for the beets will vary from 40 to 60 minutes.

A good option is to cook the vegetable in the “Steam”, “Stew” or “Boil” mode. Beets need to be washed, put on a special grid in the multicooker, and pour water on the bottom of the bowl. Close the multicooker, set the steam mode, and forget about the beets for 40 minutes. If after the specified time the beets are tough, then turn on the device for another 20 minutes.

How to cook soft beets in the oven or microwave

In the oven, you will be able to cook beets in 20-25 minutes. Wash the beets, dry them, grease them with vegetable oil, and wrap each vegetable in foil. Then place the beets on a baking tray and bake at 190 ° C for 20 minutes.

It doesn’t take long to cook beets in the microwave – microwaves with 1,000 or more watts will boil beets in 8-10 minutes. Wash the beets, and place them on a glass plate, leaving the large roots around the edges and putting the small ones in the center. Pour 3 tbsp of water on the bottom of the container, and cover the vegetables with a special lid for the microwave. If you want even longer cooking time beets, put them in a plastic bag and tie it – then you will not need a lid.
