Bohemian dumplings

Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 500 g flour
  • 4 rolls, stale
  • 125 ml milk
  • 2 eggs
  • Salt
  • pepper
  • nutmeg

Instructions

Working time approx. 40 minutes; Total time approx. 40 minutes

The ingredients alone indicate that these dumplings are sauce-sipping dishes. Whisk flour and milk in a bowl until smooth, add the eggs one at a time, and season. Now add the diced rolls. If you like, you can lightly toast the bread cubes. Be careful with the milk. Use only enough milk to give the rolls a comfortable place to sit. From the well-mixed mixture, form two long loaves with floured hands. Place these in lightly salted, boiling water and simmer with the lid on for 20 minutes. All kinds of roasts go well with them, especially sauerbraten or roast pork. When the dumplings are done, slice them with string. It is said that anyone who cuts a Bohemian dumpling with a knife is not worthy of it.
