Bonfire with apples and marzipan

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 6 eggs
  • 200 g whipped cream
  • 50 g marzipan paste
  • 1 tbsp rum
  • 4 slices of white bread, large (50 g each)
  • 3 apples, sour
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 4 tbsp cranberries, wild (thickened)

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Whisk the eggs and cream. Grate in the marzipan and stir in along with the rum. Toss the white bread slices in the egg mixture and let stand for about 10 minutes. Meanwhile, core the apples and slice them thinly. Melt the butter in a pan, sauté the apple rings for about 2 minutes, turning occasionally, and drizzle with lemon juice. Remove the bread slices from the egg mixture and place them in a baking dish. Arrange the apple rings on top. Drizzle with the remaining egg mixture. Bake for about 10 minutes in a preheated oven (175°C fan oven). Scatter the cranberries over the casserole and serve. Serve with warm vanilla sauce.
