If you love a very firm and crunchy flesh, choose Braeburn. The basic color is greenish yellow, with a brick-red, partly brownish top color.
Origin
Braeburn was found as a chance seedling in New Zealand in 1952. The variety has been widespread in Germany for several years.
Season
Braeburn from Germany is sold from November to April.
Taste
The taste is slightly sweet, refreshing and aromatic.
Use
Well suited as a dessert apple, but also perfect for fruit salads, strudel and apple sauce.
Storage
Braeburn is one of the apple varieties that can be stored particularly well. Of course, a low storage temperature should also be available here. 4°C is optimal for storing Braeburn. Cool basements or the refrigerator are best. If you keep several different types of fruit at home, do not place the apples with the other types of fruit as they will wilt more quickly if stored together in a fruit bowl with Braeburn apples. Apples can be kept at room temperature for about a week and retain their color and aroma.
