Bread casserole with apples

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 350 g white bread (can also be from yesterday)
  • 800 g apples
  • 500 ml milk
  • 70 g sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tbsp almond(s), ground
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • some butter (flakes)
  • 30 g sugar

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

ideal for dry white bread leftovers

Wash the apples and slice them, peeled (or peeled, depending on your preference), into very thin slices (about 3-4 mm thick). Layer the apples alternately in a greased baking dish, tiling the tops of the slices. Whisk together the milk, 70 g of sugar, and the eggs and pour over the tiling. Mix the almonds, cinnamon, and 30 g of sugar and pour over the casserole. Top with butter. Bake in a preheated oven at 175 °C (350 °F) for 35 minutes.
