Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 600 g bread(s), stale, diced
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 dl milk
  • 100 g butter
  • Salt

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

Bird hay

In a large frying pan, toast the bread in hot butter until lightly golden. If the bread is already very dry, pour a little boiling milk over the bread cubes and let them stand for a few minutes before toasting them in the butter. Whisk the eggs with the salt and milk. Pour the egg mixture over the bread and stir everything until there is no more liquid in the pan. Serve with compote. A popular dinner for large families!
