Bread pudding with plums

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 5 rolls, stale
  • 250 g plum(s)
  • 50 g butter
  • 500 ml milk
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • ½ packet of vanilla sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 pinch(s) cinnamon powder
  • 1 tsp rum
  • possibly walnuts
  • possibly raisins
  • possibly marzipan
  • Fat, for the shape
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 45 minutes

Grease a baking dish. Cut the rolls into small cubes. Wash and pit the plums, and also slice them. Add the bread cubes and plums to the baking dish and pour the melted butter over them. Bring the milk to a boil, then mix with the sugar, vanilla sugar, and eggs. Season with cinnamon and rum. Pour the egg mixture over the bread cubes and plums, ensuring the bread cubes absorb the milk. Sprinkle with chopped walnuts, raisins, marzipan, or something similar, if desired. Bake on the middle rack in a preheated oven at 180°C for about 30 minutes. Dust with powdered sugar to serve. Serve with vanilla sauce.
