Rusk-Apple-Slippers

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 14 slices of rusk
  • 125 ml milk
  • 500 g apples, sour
  • 1 pinch of cinnamon
  • 50 g sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 250 ml sour cream
  • 1 packet of vanilla sugar
  • 1 tbsp butter for butter flakes
  • Butter for the mold

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 45 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 5 minutes

Grease a baking dish with butter and line it with 6 slices of rusk. Drizzle the rusk with half the milk. Peel the apples and coarsely grate the flesh. Season the apple mixture with cinnamon and sugar and spread it on the rusk slices. Place another layer of rusk on top and drizzle with the remaining milk. Mix the eggs with sour cream and vanilla sugar and pour over the mixture. Roughly crumble the remaining 2 slices of rusk and spread them on top. Place the butter in small pieces on top. Bake the casserole in a preheated oven at 190°C (fan oven) for about 40-45 minutes. Serves as a main course for 2 people.
