Broccoli in a meatball ring

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 500 g minced meat, mixed
  • 1 onion(s), finely chopped
  • 1 m.-sized egg(s)
  • 2 tbsp breadcrumbs
  • Salt
  • pepper
  • Paprika powder, sweet
  • 1 broccoli
  • 30 g butter
  • 30 g flour
  • 250 ml milk
  • 250 ml liquid (cooking water from the broccoli)
  • 100 g cheese, grated, (Emmental)

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour

Cut the broccoli into florets and cook in salted water for 5 minutes, then drain. Reserve the cooking water. Mix the ground beef, onion, egg, breadcrumbs, salt, pepper, and paprika into a smooth mixture and form into small balls. Moisten your hands occasionally with water. Depending on the size, you will make 22-24 balls. Heat the butter, stir in the flour, and gradually stir in the cooking water and milk. Cook for a few minutes and season with salt and pepper. Place the broccoli in a lightly greased baking dish, then arrange the meatballs around the outside. Pour the sauce over the meatballs and sprinkle with grated cheese. Bake in a preheated oven (180°C) for about 30 minutes. Serve with boiled potatoes.
