This amount is enough to feed four children. A favorite dish for my daycare children, it’s the perfect way for kids to eat vegetables!
Bring a pot of salted water to a boil. When it’s boiling, add the pasta, stir, and simmer for 3 minutes. Then add the finely chopped broccoli florets and cook covered with the pasta for another 5 minutes on low heat. Drain, return to the pot, and add the cream. Season to taste with salt, pepper, a tiny bit of chili (just to enhance the flavor, not too spicy), and nutmeg. Stir in the cheese, sliced turkey breast, and sour cream. Heat through and season again. Since I prepare the meal in the morning, I then put it in the fridge. At lunchtime, I add a small amount of water to the pasta, stir well, and then heat it to the desired temperature. You can vary the crunchiness of the broccoli depending on the age. I serve my very young children very soft, while my children over two enjoy a slightly crunchier broccoli. As a variation, you can also serve the dish with diced zucchini. However, this isn’t nearly as popular with my daycare children.
