Bruschetta with tomatoes

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 2 beefsteak tomatoes
  • a few stalks of basil
  • Salt and pepper, from the mill
  • 8 slice(s) bread(s), (country bread)
  • 4 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

Preheat the oven to 250 degrees Celsius (482 degrees Fahrenheit). Peel and halve the garlic cloves. Blanch the tomatoes, peel them, halve them, and remove the seeds. Cut the flesh into small cubes. Wash the basil and shake dry. Pluck the leaves from the stems and cut them into fine strips. Mix the tomato pieces and basil strips together and season generously with salt and pepper. Toast the bread slices on the top rack of the preheated oven until golden brown. Rub the cut sides of the garlic cloves onto the hot bread slices and then drizzle generously with olive oil. Top the bread slices with the diced tomatoes and serve immediately.
