Brussels sprout stew with smoked goose leg

Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 kg Brussels sprouts, cleaned and washed
  • 1 leg(s) (goose leg), smoked
  • 500 g potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 1 pinch(s) white ground pepper
  • 1 pinch(s) nutmeg, ground
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • Ham

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

Trim most of the fat from the smoked goose leg [the fat is perfect for frying eggs], slice some ham, then cut it into small cubes. Bring everything to a boil in salted water. Simmer for a good 15 to 20 minutes. Remove the ham and leg, and cook the Brussels sprouts and diced potatoes in the broth. Once the sprouts are done, add the meat and season again with salt, pepper, and nutmeg, and a little caraway if you like. You have a delicious stew; smoked pork or other smoked meat is also suitable. A small amount can be used as a winter starter soup for a meal. Highly recommended even for those who don’t like Brussels sprouts.
