Cabbage Mince Stew

The perfect cabbage mince stew recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

  • 1 medium sized Fresh white cabbage
  • 1 Onion
  • 500 ml Vegetable broth
  • 3 Tomatoes
  • 500 g Mixed minced meat
  • Salt, pepper, rose paprika
  • 1 tbsp Oil
  1. Score the tomatoes crosswise at the top, place them in a bowl and pour boiling water over them …. leave in for 2-3 minutes and then rinse with cold water. Now peel off the skin, quarter it and cut out the inner workings … then dice and set aside
  2. Heat the oil in a saucepan and fry the onion lightly in it, add the mince and fry until crumbly
  3. In the meantime, clean and quarter the cabbage and cut out the stalk. Now it is cut into bite-sized pieces and added to the minced meat in the pot.
  4. Fry the cabbage for at least 5 minutes until it is lightly browned …… then it will taste better
  5. Now pour in the vegetable stock and simmer the stew for approx. 25 minutes. Do not mix in the tomato cubes until the last 10 minutes.
  6. Season the stew to taste with the spices and serve.
  7. Tip: if you want the stew “thicker”, take 2 potatoes, peel them and cut them into small cubes ….. cook them in lightly salted water and add them to the stew with the tomatoes.
