Wash and trim the fruit, peel and core if necessary. Fill preserving jars 3/4 full with the fruit and add a little sugar. For a 0.5-liter jar, for example, add 2 tablespoons of sugar. Add enough water to lightly cover the fruit. Thoroughly clean and dry the rim of each jar. Then place the dry rubber band on top and secure the lid with the clamp. Place the jars in a pot of water and bring to a boil. Simmer gently over medium heat for 20-30 minutes. Once cooled, store the jars in a cool, dark place.
