Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 400 g tomatoes
  • 100 g cherry tomatoes, yellow
  • 3 tbsp lemon juice
  • 400 g sugar
  • 200 ml vinegar
  • 50 ml orange juice
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 chili peppers
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 4 garlic cloves

Mix 250 ml of water with the lemon juice. Score the tomatoes crosswise at the stems and let them steep in the lemon water for about 30 minutes. Mix 400 ml of water with the sugar, vinegar, and orange juice. Add the salt, chilies, garlic, and bay leaves, bring to a boil, and simmer uncovered for 20 minutes. Add the tomatoes and simmer for 5 minutes. Pour into jars and seal the jars. These tomatoes taste great with grilled meat or sweet pastries!
