Cauliflower casserole with minced meat in lemon cream cheese sauce

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 cauliflower, or equal amount frozen
  • 4 m.-sized potatoes
  • 400 g minced pork
  • 1 onion(s)
  • 1 lemon(s)
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 150 g cream cheese
  • 200 ml cream
  • 200 ml milk
  • 100 g mozzarella, grated
  • 2 tsp breadcrumbs
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • salt and pepper

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 40 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour

Prepare the cauliflower, cut it into florets, and cook it in lightly salted water until al dente. Boil the potatoes in their jacket potatoes, peel them, cut them into thin slices, and arrange them on the bottom of a buttered casserole dish. Arrange the cauliflower on top. Finely chop the onion and fry it in a pan until translucent. Add the minced meat, fry briefly, and add the garlic. Deglaze with the cream and milk and add the cream cheese. Season well with salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce. Add the freshly squeezed lemon juice and sugar. Bring to a boil briefly and spread evenly over the cauliflower. Finally, sprinkle with mozzarella cheese and breadcrumbs and bake in an oven preheated to 200°C (top/bottom heat) for about 20 minutes until light brown.
