Cauliflower gratin with ham

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 cauliflower
  • 1 m.-sized onion(s)
  • 150 g cooked ham
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 200 g cottage cheese
  • 150 g whipped cream
  • 2 eggs
  • 100 g Grana Padano or Parmesan
  • Salt
  • pepper
  • some nutmeg, grated
  • n. B. Butter flakes
  • ½ bunch parsley

Working time approx. 25 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 25 minutes; Total time approx. 50 minutes

Clean and wash the cauliflower and divide it into florets. Cook the florets in boiling salted water for about 10 minutes. Peel the onion and dice it. Also dice the ham. Tip: If you want a vegetarian dish, omit the ham and use two onions instead of one, or mushrooms, etc. Heat the oil and fry the ham. Sauté the onion in it. Drain the cauliflower. In a greased baking dish, combine the cauliflower with the ham and onion mixture. Mix together the cottage cheese, cream, and egg. Stir in the Parmesan cheese. Roughly chop the parsley and mix in. Season with salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Pour the cream sauce over the cauliflower mixture. Sprinkle with knobs of butter. Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C (convection oven) for about 25 minutes.
