Chaffles is derived from the English words cheese and waffles, and that’s exactly what they are: cheese waffles. The version with mozzarella is the basic recipe and, in my opinion, tastes the least cheesy. Put the cheese and eggs in a bowl and mix well until smooth. If you like, you can season with salt and pepper or add other ingredients to the chaffles. Ham cubes are super delicious. Now fill the waffle iron (or a silicone waffle pan) with the mixture and bake. In the oven, it takes about 15 minutes at 175°C. The waffle iron is much faster, of course, but requires the addition of oil. The cheese waffles are a great substitute for burger buns or can be used as sandwiches, but they taste amazing on their own too.
