Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 8 slice(s) of bread(s), stale
  • 60 g butter, soft
  • 150 g cheese, grated (Cheddar)
  • 4 eggs
  • ¼ liter vegetable broth
  • ⅛ liter cream
  • pepper

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Preheat oven to 150°C. Remove the crust from the bread and butter one side of each slice. Sprinkle 2/3 of the grated cheese on 4 slices and cover with the remaining slices. Cut the sandwiches diagonally. Grease an ovenproof dish with the remaining butter and arrange the cheese sandwiches on the bottom. Beat the eggs, broth, and cream, then pour the egg mixture over the sandwiches to coat. Let stand for 30 minutes. Sprinkle the remaining cheese on top and season with pepper. Bake until golden brown.
