quick and easy

Combine the washed and picked cherries with the remaining ingredients in a large pot and bring to a boil. Simmer over medium heat for about 10 minutes. Transfer the compote to a porcelain bowl to cool. It tastes delicious warm or cold with a variety of side dishes, or simply on its own. The compote is intended for immediate consumption. If you want to store it in jars, you can do that too. However, it should be consumed within 2-3 weeks.
