Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 250 ml water
  • 250 g sugar
  • 100 g cocoa powder (not instant powder)
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

simply

Place the water and sugar in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Boil for 5 minutes, until the sugar has dissolved, stirring occasionally. Remove from the heat and add the cocoa powder, stirring constantly. Then return the pan to the stove and simmer over low heat for about 5 minutes, stirring constantly, until the cocoa powder has completely dissolved. This will create a lovely, delicious, thick sauce. Remove the pan from the heat and add the vanilla extract (Tip: Instead of the extract, you can also use a sachet of vanilla sugar or a few drops of vanilla flavoring—although a freshly scraped vanilla pod is better). The chocolate sauce can be served hot or cold and will keep in the refrigerator for about a week. When using the cocoa powder, please note that it is not hot chocolate!
