chocolate syrup

Spread the love

Ingredients for 8 servings:

  • 250 ml water
  • 200 g sugar
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 100 g cocoa powder (no added sugar, no cocoa or similar)
  • 1 vanilla pod(s) (the pulp or 1 packet of vanilla sugar)

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 10 minutes

Simple chocolate sauce e.g. over ice cream or pudding

Combine water, sugar, salt, and vanilla seeds in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Whisk in the cocoa powder and simmer for 5 minutes, stirring constantly. It can be poured warm/hot over ice cream or used cold as a sauce/syrup for all kinds of desserts. Once cooled, the syrup will thicken nicely. You can make it ahead and store it in the fridge, for example, in an empty plastic ketchup bottle. It’s really super easy and tastes incredibly chocolatey. Much cheaper than ready-made products.
