Ingredients for 6 servings:

  • 2 liters of cloudy apple juice
  • 170 g blackberries
  • 7 orange slices
  • ½ tsp cinnamon powder
  • 2 star anise
  • some cinnamon sticks, for decoration

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 40 minutes

Set aside 6 blackberries for garnish. In a large saucepan, combine the apple juice, remaining berries, 4 orange slices, cinnamon powder, and star anise. Bring to a boil over moderately high heat, stirring occasionally. Reduce the heat to low. Simmer the mixture until the blackberries begin to color. Strain the mixture through a sieve and discard the residue. Ladle the hot liquid into 6 heatproof glasses. Halve the remaining 3 orange slices and garnish each glass with half an orange slice, a blackberry, and a piece of cinnamon stick.
