Buttermilk waffles as a quick alternative to cookies

Combine the ingredients in a bowl and stir to form a thick batter, gradually adding the buttermilk or milk last. Cover and let rest in the refrigerator for one hour. Then, as usual, bake the waffles in batches in the preheated waffle iron. You can serve the finished waffles generously dusted with powdered sugar or with cherry compote, applesauce, vanilla sauce, or something similar. You can also stack them American-style, layering them in a tower with plenty of butter and/or cream between them.
