Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 375 g flour
  • 125 g sugar
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 egg(s)
  • 200 g butter
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 3 tbsp powdered sugar
  • 125 g jam (red currant jelly)
  • Flour for the work surface

Working time approx. 1 hour; Rest time approx. 3 hours; Total time approx. 4 hours

Knead the flour, sugar, salt, egg, cold butter in small pieces, baking powder, and cinnamon into a smooth dough. Chill the dough for at least 2 hours (preferably overnight). On a floured work surface, knead the dough piece by piece and roll out to a thickness of approx. 3 mm. Cut out using a flower cutter (5 cm diameter). Cut out the center of half of the flowers using a smaller star shape. Place all the flowers on a baking sheet lined with baking paper and bake in a preheated oven (top/bottom heat: 200°C, fan: 175°C) for approx. 12 minutes. Dust the cut-out flowers with icing sugar. Warm the jelly slightly and spread it all over the flowers. Place the cut-out flowers on top and press down lightly.
