really easy – really basic

Mix the flour with the powdered sugar, egg yolk, salt, and butter pieces to form a smooth ball of dough. It’s best to use your hands to firmly mash the butter into the ingredients. Chill for 1 hour. Roll out the dough thinly and place it in a greased tart pan (approx. 20-24 cm in diameter). Carefully press it into the edges of the pan and trim off any excess dough. Peel, quarter, and core the apples, then cut them into 1 cm wide wedges. Mix with 2 tablespoons of lemon juice. Layer the apple slices over the dough in a shingle pattern and sprinkle with brown sugar. Bake the tart on the lowest rack of an oven preheated to 200°C (top/bottom heat) for 30-35 minutes until golden brown.
