Classic beef salad

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 500 g lean beef
  • 2 bell peppers, red and green
  • 2 onions
  • 4 large gherkins
  • 100 g mayonnaise
  • 100 g tomato ketchup
  • 2 tbsp cognac
  • Salt and cayenne pepper
  • ½ lemon(s)

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Rest time approx. 2 hours; Total time approx. 2 hours 15 minutes

Boil the beef and let it cool, then cut it into small pieces, ideally thin strips. Cut the other ingredients, such as bell peppers, onions, and gherkins, into thin strips as well. Carefully mix everything together in a bowl. Add ketchup, mayonnaise, and cognac. Season to taste with salt, cayenne pepper, and lemon juice. Let the salad sit for about 2 hours, preferably in a cool, dark place, rather than the refrigerator.
